Last night I paid my first visit to Wharf Chambers in Leeds to see a great band from Los Angeles Drab Majesty.

In a sparsely lighted cold back room, a small but enthusiastic crowd (anymore it might have been like the inside of a sardine can) of beards, black dexy’s bean’s, tote bags and a couple of goths.

I can imagine this is what it must felt like when the fledgling Sisters of Mercy played the F-Club to a small alternative but well informed audience back in the 8o’s.

After a long trip from Athens, Deb. D and Mona D showed no sign of tiredness as they belted out a sublime sonic shoegaze gothic drenched set including  Too Soon To Tell

Cold Souls.

Deb D and Mona D visually remind me very much of the visual mesmerising androgynous celestial beings that Capt Kirk used to encounter back in the days of the cult TV series.

Without doubt this was the most Gothic concert that will take place in Leeds this year and as per usual not many goths turned out as they seem scared of new music or bands which are not from the UK. I’m glad I made this gig and managed to see what promises to be the best debut at this year’s Wave Gotik Treffen in Leipzig 😉
